Futurity Program

The MMHC Futurity program was developed several years ago to offer members a fun, easy and inexpensive way to highlight and promote their breeding programs. Mares are nominated, progeny sustained and an MMHC Futurity show is held annually. Prizes are awarded during the show, typically held during the MMHC show, with cash prizes presented during the annual banquet in November. Weanling, yearling and 2 year old horses compete in Halter with separate Over and Under divisions. Beginning with the 2010 progeny group, 3 year old Open Pleasure Driving and Open Hunter classes will be available during the 2013 show.

Program Details

·        Mares must be nominated by March 1^st of the participating year for a fee of $5.00. No late mare nominations allowed. Mares must be owned by a club member in good standing.

·        Futurity horses must be sustained annually ($20.00) in order to stay active in the program. If showing at the annual Futurity event, the sustaining fee is due by July 1^st. Otherwise, the sustaining fee is due by December 31^st.  Sustaining fee is double if deadline is missed.

·        Futurity horses must be AMHR or AMHA reg.  and owned by a member in good standing.

·        The Futurity show is typically held late Saturday afternoon of the annual 3-day MMHC show with the judge being selected by the Show Manager from the group of show judges. Futurity horses must be measured by the Show Steward. Class fee is $7.50, due July 15^th.

·        Fillies show are in one class, Stallions and Geldings in another in the Under and Over divisions based on age (Weanling, Yearling, 2 Year Old).  Ribbons are awarded for 1-6 with all first place winners competing in the MMHC Supreme Futurity Horse class.

·        All monies collected stay with the originating program year. Sustaining fees paid on horses not shown will be added to the following year’s pot for that age group.  Places 1-6 are paid out. If a class has less than 6 horses, the un-awarded money will be added to the following year’s pot for that age group except for the 2 year old class. 100% of remaining funds are paid out in the 2 year old class of 2010, 2011 and 2012. Beginning in 2013, the 3 year old class will have 100% of the remaining funds paid out.

·        Payouts are based on placing. Weanling and yearling classes are as follows: 1^st = 30%, 2^nd = 24%, 3^rd = 19%, 4^th = 14%, 5^th = 9%, 6^th = 4%. For the 2 year old class, the payouts are based on the number of horses in the class. Payout on 1 horse = 100%; 2 horses = 60/40; 3 horses = 50/30/20, 4 horses = 40/30/20/10, 5 horses = 35/25/20/15/5.
